The foundations of the house are said to be 1000 years old (dating back to when the Moorish people lived in this area –hence there is a lot of history around there). Over the centuries the house was divided and then built upwards so that now it has three floors.

The downstairs area is built with stone walls and a Moorish arch and consists of an entrance area, lounge with a wood fire, a small T.V. room, the dining room and a kitchen. The 1st level has three double / twin bedrooms all en-suite and a small library with a terrace. The top floor has another two double / twin bedrooms, the owner’s bedroom and bathroom, a stock room and an airing cupboard. There is also a terrace that has marvellous views of the valleys and mountains. The whole house is centrally heated with propane gas radiators.

Beniaya is about 55 kms from Benidorm, Javea and Denia; 75 kms from Alicante and 120 kms from Valencia.

The village is more like a hamlet with about 40 houses and two streets. There are 14 people who live there permanently but at week-ends families and owners of homes (who live in the bigger towns or on the coast) come here. So, as you can imagine, there is peace and quiet which attracts a lot of guests there.

This is also walking country and the Valencian regional council has promised to spend a large amount of funds this year on rural tourism and promoting the walking and historical area where Beniaya is situated. Most guests live on the coast and go there for the walking and to get away from the hustle and bustle of places like Benidorm, etc.

Alastair Sawday’s "Special Places to Stay in Spain", is also a wonderful form of publicity for the hostal and many of the guests who are travelling around Spain or who have properties further south stop there on their journeys. They also advertise in the Spanish accommodation books and with the Valencian Tourist Board.
